The prosecutor in Bontoc has accepted the case of the brutal killing of a dog in Mountain Province, according to police.
Axle, an American Bully, was beaten to death in the town of Sadanga on December 4. The violence was captured on CCTV.
According to the police, Sadanga Police's first two attempts to file a case were rejected due to "lack of evidence." But they strengthened the evidence and on the third submission, it was accepted.
Sadanga police formally referred the case on December 15 to the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office for violation of the Animal Welfare Act (RA 8485).
The Philippine Animal Welfare Society is calling for witnesses to pursue criminal cases against the suspect, who is a staff driver of a local official.
