Filipino golfer Miguel Tabuena once again showed his mettle after shooting a four-under-par 68 on the first day of the Singapore Open, where he was joined by world-class players Talor Gooch and Thomas Pieters.
Coming off a recent win at the International Series in the Philippines, Tabuena proved that his victory was no fluke. Despite strong winds and intense competition, he maintained a calm and steady game, finishing with three birdies in the last six holes.
Despite suffering a bogey at the start of his second nine, he quickly recovered on the following holes. He finished with two 34s on the scorecard, and is currently in 11th place, just four strokes behind leader Jeunghun Wang of Korea.
Despite eight misses on the fairways, Tabuena recovered with accurate iron shots and excellent putting. He hit 14 greens and made 29 putts—a testament to his skill and determination.
The tournament's prize pool is ₱118 million (equivalent to $2 million), and Tabuena continues to fight for a spot in next year's LIV Golf League. As the season finale in Saudi Arabia approaches, he aims to finish the year as one of the best golfers in Asia.
