Filipino world champion Melvin Jerusalem is full of confidence ahead of his title defense against South African boxer Siyakhlowa Kuse in “Thrilla in Manila 2.” It will be held this October 28, 2025, in Quezon City in celebration of 50th anniversary of the fight between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier.
At the weigh-in, the 30-year-old Jerusalem said he was “100% ready” and confident he could retain the WBC minimumweight title. “It’s a big honor because it’s part of history. There’s no pressure, I’m more excited because there will be a lot of spectators,” he said.
According to Jerusalem, his preparation is complete and he considers it like he won the lottery because this is one of the biggest fights of his career. “We are very ready, and the Filipinos are also eager to watch. Tomorrow we will show how ready we are,” he added.
Jerusalem also thanked those who helped with the event, especially Manny Pacquiao and all the Filipino supporters. “Thank you very much for your trust and support,” he said.
Also featured in the undercard are some well-known Filipino boxers such as Carl Jammes Martin, Eumir Marcial, Arvin Magramo, Ronerick Ballesteros, and Albert Francisco, who will simultaneously show the talent of the Filipino boxer on the Big Dome stage.
