Ang isang 80-anyos na ginang sa Barangay Highway Hills, Mandaluyong City, ay dalawang oras na hinostage ng kanyang lasing na anak Sabado ng gabi, Oktubre 18. Gamit ng anak ang isang replika ng baril para takutin ang kanyang ina.
The victim immediately called for help after he was able to see through the balcony. The SWAT team of the Mandaluyong Police responded quickly within 10 minutes. Negotiations lasted for about an hour before entering the house and arresting the 53-year-old suspect.
According to Police Capt. Juanito Arabejo, the layout of the house provided by the relative helped to carry out the operation safely. The police caught the child inside while he was guarding his mother in the bedroom.
A replica gun used as a scare tactic was recovered at the scene. Based on the investigation, the suspect had previously assaulted his mother whenever he was drunk. The woman was subjected to a medical check-up due to excessive fear.
The police are preparing a case to be filed against the son, who could face criminal charges for hostage-taking and assault.
