The two self-identified Immigration employees were caught by the Quezon City Police after a Korean complained of extortion.
An entrapment operation was conducted at Camp Karingal on Friday night. Investigation revealed that on June 18, the victim paid ₱166,800 in exchange for the renewal of his working visa and Alien Certificate of Registration (ACR).
Later, the Korean asked to have his documents returned. But the suspects allegedly threatened to report his family to Immigration if he did not provide an additional ₱70,000.
According to QCPD acting district director PCol. Randy Glenn Silvio, the quick action was possible because the victim reported the matter, which led to the suspects' illegal activities being stopped.
Confiscated from them were boodle money, four ACR cards, Korean passports, Alien Employment Permits, official receipts, Certificates of Family Relations, a company profile, ₱3,000, and a vehicle. The suspects are already in custody and will face charges of robbery-extortion and usurpation of authority.
