The 2026 Toyota GR Corolla is more refined and stronger than the previous model. The new chassis has an additional 45.6” of adhesive bond, making it stronger and more stable on high-speed roads or tracks. There is also an additional air cooling duct at the front to keep the engine cooler during long drives, based on learnings from the Nürburgring track.
In 2024-2025, there were also small changes such as larger bolts, stiffer springs, optimized air vents, and aluminum sheets in the wheel well. All of this to give the driver a better feel for the engine and a more responsive feel on the track. At Sonoma Raceway, we really felt the power of the 2026 GR Corolla – faster, sharper, and more controlled every turn. Torque also increased in 2025, from 273 lb-ft to 295 lb-ft, further improving performance.
At the same time, we also tested the GR Supra Final Edition and GR 86 Yuzu Edition. The GR Supra Final Edition has aerodynamic upgrades and a GT4 Style Pack for greater stability at speeds above 160 km/h. Meanwhile, the GR 86 Yuzu Edition is lighter, has a balanced weight and a mechanical limited slip differential. Even with only 228 horsepower, it still feels fun to drive because of the light and balanced body.
It's great to see that Toyota GR continues to improve its vehicles. Even if the technical upgrades are small, they have a big impact on the driving experience. For those looking to buy a GR Corolla, 2026 is definitely the year to choose.
