Gunpla and model kit enthusiasts often experiment with painting, cutting, and weathering to make their creations unique. But recently, a modeler showed off a unique pen brush painting that amazed fans.
He used a technique that produced shadow and contrast, making the HG series Elgaim look like a 2D anime illustration that came out of the TV. Many netizens were impressed by the clear lines and simple yet cool look.
The modeler didn't just focus on the paint. He also upgraded the kit: he made the Burst Cannon's switch movable, and he even 3D printed a new open hand part that wasn't in the original kit.
Pen brush painting is difficult, but when the color and shading are right, the kit looks very anime-like. That's why many hobbyists have drawn inspiration from it for their own custom works.
If you're into model kits, it's a good idea to try this style too. It's fun to see a plastic model that looks like a ₱2,000 kit but the original looks like artwork from an anime.
