Netflix has released a trailer for the documentary My Father The BTK Killer directed by Skye Borgman. The show is based on the book A Serial Killer’s Daughter: My Story of Faith, Love and Overcoming written by Kerri Rawson, daughter of notorious serial killer Dennis Rader or better known as BTK (Bind, Torture, Kill).
The documentary features the story of Rader's family and how their lives and community were affected. For Rawson, accepting that his father may have had more victims than he admits, as well as uncovering hidden traumas from his childhood, is a big challenge.
It includes interviews with investigators, old photos and sketches, and interrogation footage of Rader himself. In each section, Rawson shares his personal reflections on his relationship with his father before and after his arrest in February 2005.
Rader confessed to 10 brutal murders in Wichita, Kansas from 1974 to 1991. He sent cryptic messages to the media about the crimes. He went into hiding in the ’90s but reappeared in public in the early 2000s, and thanks to a floppy disk, the police tracked him down and eventually arrested him.
My Father The BTK Killer will be available to watch starting October 10 on Netflix.
