A 55-year-old man surrendered to police after admitting that he was the one who stabbed 15-year-old boy during a protest on Recto Avenue, Manila last Sunday.
According to the report, the victim was stabbed in the back and did not survive. The suspect explained that he got annoyed when he saw the youths vandalizing the stalls and could not control himself.
“I'm angry because they're breaking a lot of things... I'm devastated,” said the suspect, who is a watchmaker in the area. He also apologized to the victim's family and said he didn't know she was a minor.
“Sorry because it wasn't my intention. I also didn't know that he was 15-year-old because he was tall,” he added. “I hope there won't be any more such chaos and riots.”
According to Lt. Col. Arwen Nacional, the suspect voluntarily surrendered to Manila Police District Station 14 on Monday night. He is currently detained and will face homicide charges.
