A fire broke out in five apartment units on Violet Street, Barangay Pasong Tamo, Quezon City early Wednesday morning. The fire started at around 2:00 AM and was immediately raised to first alarm. More than 11 firetrucks responded to put out the fire.
A three-story apartment building was engulfed in thick smoke, trapping a family. The head of the family, Marianito Villa, a senior citizen, was rescued from the rooftop. According to him, he immediately woke up his wife and son. Eventually, the mother and son were also rescued from the third floor near the bathroom. Both of them were having difficulty breathing but are now in stable condition.
The Villa family's four pets—three cats and one dog—did not survive. According to the BFP, the fire started in the far apartment unit.
At least five families were affected by the fire. The fire was declared out at 3:00 AM. The cause and total cost of damage are still being determined, estimated to be ₱500,000.
