The five Filipina figure skaters competed in the Asian Open Figure Skating Trophy 2025 held at the Mall of Asia skating rink in Pasay City. The event marks the start of the 2026 Winter Olympics season and was attended by athletes from 19 countries.

Cathryn Limketkai, Maxine Bautista, and Sofia Frank led the Pinay competitors after the Senior Women short program. Limketkai had the highest score of 36.42 and placed 9th, followed by Bautista with 35.82 for 10th place, while Frank had 34.93 for on the 11th.

Limketkai admitted that this was not the performance he wanted because he made mistakes in two major jumps. However, he is more determined to make up for it in the free skating category on Tuesday. Bautista and Frank feel the same way, both hoping for a better performance. Both cited the difficult ice conditions but remain positive for the next match.

Top 3 spots in the Senior Women short program were taken by China and Hong Kong. Yi Zhu took the lead with ₱3.65 million (61.94 points), followed by Ruiyang Zhang with ₱3.46 million (58.61 points), and Hong Kong's Tsz Ching Chan was third with ₱2.93 million (49.62 points).

After the Asian Open, the Filipino skaters will prepare for other competitions such as the Four Continents Figure Skating Championships, World Championships, and qualifiers for the 2026 Winter Olympics this September, as well as the Southeast Asian Games in December. They believe that their confidence will be stronger against other Asian skaters and consistency will be the key to getting more points.
