A 68-year-old man died after being brutally beaten by a 33-year-old suspect at a store in Sitio Wawa, Barangay San Rafael, Rodriguez, Rizal, past 4 a.m., Wednesday, July 23. Even more shocking, the suspect even filmed the crime using his own cellphone.
In the video, the victim appears to be sleeping next to a table when the suspect suddenly attacks him and hits him repeatedly. The victim was immediately taken to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
According to PLt. Col. Paul Sabulao, chief of the Rodriguez Municipal Police, both the victim and the suspect had been drinking before the incident. He added that the victim had a habit of taking a break when he was drunk. But after the suspect left, he suddenly attacked the victim for no reason.
The police immediately caught the suspect in Barangay San Isidro. There is no clear motive other than the suspect being drunk. “They said he just got drunk and tripped the victim. Who kills while videotaping themselves?” added PLt. Col. Sabulao.
