
CEO FC Conradie, co-owner of Gondwana Private Game Reserve in South Africa, died after being run over by an elephant on July 22. According to reports, Conradie, 39 years old and a father of three, suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident.
Gondwana confirmed the news in a Facebook post on July 23. According to the company, the incident occurred at around 8:00 a.m. Emergency medical teams responded immediately but Conradie was unable to be saved. An official investigation is still underway.
According to Gondwana, Conradie was a dedicated husband, father, and passionate conservationist. He was praised as a leader who demonstrated integrity and compassion. Because of his vision, Gondwana became one of the most prominent private game reserves in South Africa.
The company added that FC had made significant contributions to wildlife conservation, community upliftment, and sustainable tourism. They also said Conradie's passing leaves a huge void, but his legacy will live on.
A close friend and Gondwana spokesperson said Conradie's passing was an “unimaginable loss.” They are requesting privacy for the family while the investigation continues and have asked that any speculation be avoided.
