The floods in Bulacan reached neck-deep and roof-deep in some areas after incessant rains brought by typhoon Crising, the southwest monsoon, and another Low Pressure Area (LPA). The situation was further worsened when it was accompanied by strong high tide yesterday.
Based on the report, the high tide reached 4.6 feet at around 6:14 a.m. As a result, several barangays such as Frances, Meysulao, and San Miguel, Calumpit were submerged in floodwaters, with water reaching up to their necks.
According to the PDRRMC, 13 towns and 3 cities were affected, including Hagonoy, Calumpit, Balagtas, Bocaue, Paombong, Guiguinto, and the cities of Meycauayan, Baliwag, and Malolos. Even the famous Barasoain Church did not survive the flooding.
The Bustos and Ipo Dams also released water, further worsening the flooding. Due to the strong current, the bridge connecting Doña Remedios Trinidad and San Miguel gave way. In some areas such as Guiguinto and Bulakan, boats were used to cross.
More than 900 families or 2,000 people were evacuated as of Monday afternoon. As a result, classes and work in public offices were suspended this Wednesday for everyone's safety.
