
Typhoon Emong is set to make a second landfall this Friday morning in parts of the Ilocos Region. PAGASA has raised its highest wind signal in several areas as the storm intensifies over Northern Luzon.
Signal No. 4 raised in the southwest of Ilocos Sur (Santa Lucia, Santa Cruz, Tagudin, Alilem, Sugpon, Suyo) and in the north and center of La Union (Bangar, Luna, San Juan, Bauang, San Fernando City). Winds will reach 118-184 kph, threat to life and property.
Signal No. 3 is in southern Ilocos Norte, remaining parts of Ilocos Sur and La Union, Abra, Apayao, Benguet, and some parts of Pangasinan. Winds 89–117 kph, may cause damage. Signal No. 2 and 1 are also in place in some parts of Luzon including Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Aurora, Tarlac, Pampanga, and Zambales.
Strong rain and gusty winds brought by the southwest monsoon are also felt in Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Bicol, MIMAROPA, Visayas, and Mindanao. PAGASA warns of possible flooding and landslides.
According to PAGASA, Emong will cross Northern Luzon and exit the Babuyan Channel before noon. It is possible that the storm will maintain its strength as it approaches Batanes this afternoon.
