A 20-year-old vendor died after being electrocuted while repairing corrugated iron sheets in their flooded house in San Mateo, Rizal, on Tuesday, July 22.
The victim, identified as alias “Jed,” has a live-in partner and is a resident of Barangay Sta. Ana. He was brought to the San Mateo Doctors Hospital but was declared dead-on-arrival due to severe injuries.
According to the police report, the area was still flooded when the victim was removing the metal sheet. He did not notice that a live wire was submerged in the floodwater and it came into contact with him. As a result, Jed fainted and lost consciousness before being rushed to the hospital.
The power cable is still connected to the pole in the area. The victim's relatives have refused to continue the investigation because they believe the incident was an accident.
