PAGASA is monitoring two weather systems within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) that will strengthen the southwesterly wind.
According to PAGASA, Tropical Depression Emong has strengthened, while Dante has been upgraded to tropical storm category. Emong was last spotted 105 km northwest of Northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and gustiness of 55 kph.
Meanwhile, Dante is 880 km east of the northern tip of Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph and gustiness of 80 kph.
In addition, there is a Low Pressure Area (LPA) outside the PAR located 2,340 km east of Eastern Visayas. It has a high probability of becoming a tropical depression within 24 hours.
If the LPA strengthens further, the impact of the southwest monsoon will last longer in Luzon and Visayas, so residents are advised to be alert.
