TNT Tropang 5G stayed alive in the PBA Philippine Cup Finals after defeating San Miguel Beermen, 86-78, in Game 5 on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser led the way for TNT with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 blocks. Kelly Williams followed with 14 points, while Calvin Oftana and Jordan Heading each added 13 points.
TNT's lead reached 15 points in the third quarter, but it was down to four, 59-55, at the start of the fourth. Tropang 5G quickly recovered with a 13-0 run that pushed the lead to 72-55. The gap reached 18 points after a Heading 3-pointer, 77-59.
San Miguel came back and cut the lead to eight, 84-76, with 1:24 left on Jericho Cruz's three-pointer. But the Beermen fell short after Williams' free throws and a few missed shots.
The series is still 3-2 in favor of San Miguel, and TNT needs to win Game 6 on Friday, 7:30 PM, at the PhilSports Arena to continue its battle towards the Grand Slam dream.
