The population of the Philippines reached 112.7 million as of July 1, 2024, according to data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). According to Proclamation No. 973 signed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on July 11, 2025, the results of the 2024 Census of Population and Housing are now officially recognized.
The country's population has increased by 3.69 million since 2020, reaching 109.04 million. But the population growth rate has slowed to 0.8% per year from 2020 to 2024, compared to 1.6% from 2015 to 2020. According to the PSA, the decline in growth could be due to lower birth rates, the impact of the pandemic, and reduced migration movements.
The largest population is in Region IV-A or Calabarzon with 16.93 million, followed by the National Capital Region (14 million) and Region III or Central Luzon (12.99 million). Almost 39% of the country's population comes from these three regions. Meanwhile, the Cordillera Administrative Region has the lowest population of 1.81 million.
Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has the fastest population growth of 3.43% per year. Next is Central Luzon with 1.08% and Calabarzon with 1.07%. Bicol Region had the lowest growth of -0.07%.
President Marcos directed the PSA and the Presidential Communications Office to distribute the official copy of the census to all government agencies. The census was conducted from July to September 2024, using July 1, 2024 as the reference date.
