A nursery worker in Australia has been charged with more than 70 counts of sexual abuse of eight children aged five months to two years. Victoria Police Commander Janet Stevenson said the news was devastating for the families.
The man worked at 20 nursery schools in Melbourne from 2017 to 2025. As a result, State Chief Health Officer Christian McGrath said 1,200 children needed to be tested to see if they had been exposed to infectious diseases. Authorities did not specify what the disease was but said it could be treated with antibiotics.
According to Premier Jacinta Allan, she was deeply disappointed and disgusted by these allegations. She said it was truly shocking and saddening, and she felt the weight of the situation of families who were going through a parent's worst nightmare.
