The Senator Risa Hontiveros is pleased with the decision of the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 34 to approve the quo warranto petition against Alice Guo. Guo was removed as mayor of Bamban, Tarlac because she is “undoubtedly a Chinese citizen.”
Hontiveros, who previously led the Senate hearing about Guo's identity and his connection to illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO), stated that Guo's real name is Guo Hua Ping.
“This is good news,” Hontiveros said at the press conference. “It shows that the two branches of government can work together to protect public safety and the rights of women and children.”
He also warned that the public and authorities must remain vigilant. “The problem with POGO is not over yet. I believe the PNP and other law enforcement agencies should always stay alert,” he added.
When asked if she would investigate other possible foreigners holding positions in the government, Hontiveros said she has not yet received any complaints. She expressed hope that the decision would serve as a lesson to others pretending to be Filipinos or their accomplices.
