A Chinese and his Filipino accomplice were caught after a buy-bust operation by the PNP-Drug Enforcement Group in Barangay Bulihan, Plaridel, Bulacan, Saturday night. According to Police Brigadier General Edwin Quilates, more than 100 kilos of shabu worth an estimated P700 million were seized from them. The drugs were wrapped in packaging tape and hidden in a rented house.
The police have been monitoring the suspects' movements for a long time. Quilates said they conducted surveillance for a month before conducting the operation. It was found that the house in the subdivision was only used as a storage for illegal drugs. According to the security guard, the suspects only come twice a week and then leave immediately.
To avoid detection, the Chinese man pretended to be a vegetable and fish vendor in another area in Plaridel. He has a Filipina partner and they have been together for ten years. They also have a child, and they use the vegetable and seafood store in Guiguinto as their front office.
The suspects denied that they were involved in drug trafficking. They are now detained at the PDEG headquarters in Camp Crame and will be charged with violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
