A local court in Manila has ruled that Alice Guo is “undoubtedly Chinese”, leading to her removal as mayor of Bamban, Tarlac. According to Judge Liwliwa Hidalgo-Bucu of Manila RTC Branch 34, Guo should not hold the position of mayor as she does not have the right to do so.
In the decision on June 27, the court stated that Guo, also known as Guo Hua Ping, is a Chinese citizen and the child of Guo Jian Zhong and Lin Wenyi, both Chinese. The court further added that there are no birth, death, and marriage records for the parents he claims, and it was verified through fingerprints that he is indeed Guo Hua Ping.
Si Guo has been imprisoned for almost 10 months due to a case of qualified human trafficking, which is non-bailable. She also faces separate charges of money laundering and graft related to the operation of a scam hub in Bamban, Tarlac. In her defense, she claims that she is merely renting out her property to a POGO.
The court stated that it is crucial to finalize the decision because it poses a threat to national security. A new mayor is now in office, but the case was still pursued to clarify that Guo is not a legitimate official.
