The first look at the Philippine adaptation of It's Okay to Not Be Okay was released by Netflix on Thursday, starring Anne Curtis as Emilia Hernandez and Joshua Garcia as Patrick Gonzales. Their chemistry is evident in the first image from the series.
It is based on the popular Korean drama of the same title. It is the story of an author with severe antisocial behavior who learns to deal with his emotional wounds after meeting a man who can change his cold personality.
According to creative producer Henry King Quitain, the story has been given a Filipino touch. "We're going to make the Korean series Filipino," he said. There are also changes in some parts of the story to make it more relatable to Filipinos.
The show also uses animated scenes created by Filipino animators, especially in scenes showing Emilia's children's books, similar to the original character Ko Moon-young.
The It's Okay to Not Be Okay Pinoy remake is from Star Creatives and will be available starting July 18 on Netflix.
