The creator of the popular webtoon Itaewon Class, Gwang Jin, will be coming to Manila this July for a series of workshops and drawing sessions. If you're a fan of Park Sae-ro-yi's stories, this is your chance to learn directly from the author.
The events are organized by the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines. Gwang Jin will talk about his journey — from creating a webtoon, to adapting it as a TV series. There will also be live drawing where you can see how he sketches webtoon panels.
Here is the schedule:
July 4, 1:00 PM – Sketching Beginnings sa De La Salle-College of St. Benilde
July 5, 1:00 PM – Plotlines and Panels sa Metropolitan Museum of Manila
July 6, 1:30 PM – Ink & Industries Masterclass sa Philippine International Comics Festival, SM Megamall
All workshops are free, but pre-registration is required before June 25. You will receive a confirmation email on June 26 if you are in the slots. For the PICOF event, the masterclass is free but there is a fee to enter the festival itself. Tickets are available at Ticket2Me.
