The two boys who went missing on Wednesday afternoon were found dead in an abandoned quarry pit in Zamboanga City yesterday.
The victims were identified as Josua Anuddin, 8 years old, and Ivan Apolinario, 10 years old, both from Barangay Cabaluay. The two were last seen going to the quarry pit to allegedly fish.
According to relatives, the two children never returned home after leaving. Their family was worried and immediately launched a search.
Delfin Apolinario, Ivan's grandfather, said he was skeptical about neighbors' claims that the children were carrying nylon. He said they did not see any fishing gear in the area and the water was murky, making it unsafe for swimming.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into what really happened to the children and if there were other reasons behind the incident
