A man was dead and five injured after their Mitsubishi Adventure overturned at NLEX Marilao, Bulacan on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Bong Chua, who was brought to Joni Villanueva Hospital but dead on arrival. His companions are also being treated at the same hospital....
According to the report, Christopher Dave de Guzman lost control of the steering wheel when the vehicle was collapsed by a beam from the Marilao Interchange Bridge. The beam fell after being hit by a container truck driven by Roy Macalisang.
In the investigation, the vehicles were passing under the bridge in Barangay Patubig when the incident occurred. Due to the impact, a beam of the bridge was detached and hit the Adventure.
As a result, toll collection has been temporarily suspended on the northbound lane of Marilao until the four lanes are reopened. the DOTr has issued a show-cause order to overheight trucks residing on bridges.
The DOTr has ordered NLEX Corp. to stop toll collection, provide assistance to victims, and submit an explanation within three days on why they should not be punished for repeated accidents.
