The 100 Chinese nationals were deported back to Shanghai, China on Tuesday morning. This is part of the cooperation between the PAOCC (Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission) and the Bureau of Immigration to crack down on illegal POGO and scam operations in the country.

According to authorities, Chinese people have been arrested in places like Lapu-Lapu City (Cebu), Silang (Cavite), Parañaque, and Pasay since last year. The total number of deported Chinese POGO workers has reached 4,000.

Usec. Gilberto Cruz praised the cooperation of the Chinese embassy, which paid for their return. According to him, almost 1,000 Chinese citizens have been victims of scam operations in the Philippines, so China is grateful for the government's action.

There are still more deportations expected, and it is possible that up to 100 more people will be followed. Cruz also revealed that it is sometimes difficult to determine the true identity of the foreigners involved, due to their use of multiple names.

Cruz will accompany the group to China and meet with Chinese officials to strengthen cooperation against transnational crimes, especially in cases involving money laundering. The Philippines also wants to learn from their skills and investigation training to better improve operations against illegal activities.
