The two men who were arrested in Parañaque for using unauthorized blinkers were caught with guns, ammunition, C4 explosive, and communication devices. According to the PNP-HPG, the suspects also allegedly used the name of First Lady Liza Marcos for their extortion scheme.
The suspects were identified as “Joselito” and “JJ Café.” They were caught while riding in a Chevrolet Suburban with a protocol plate often used by government officials. When the vehicle was inspected, 9mm pistol, bulletproof vest, radios, and C4 explosive were discovered.
According to HPG Director Brig. Gen. Eleazar Matta, the suspects seem to be prepared for a possible encounter. “JJ Café” is said to be posing as a relative of the First Lady and a pretended undersecretary to solicit money in exchange for permits and approvals.
It seems like this has happened again. Ambassador Markus Lacanilao said Joselito was previously arrested in March for the same modus operandi—threatening an emission testing center for P5 million.
So far, the two have been charged with illegal possession of firearms and explosives, usurpation of authority, and extortion. A third accomplice who fled in a separate vehicle is also being sought.
