A taxi driver at NAIA was caught on video charging P1,200 for a short trip from Terminal 2 to Terminal 3. As a result, not only could the driver lose his license—but the company he works for could also face legal action.
According to Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon, the investigation revealed that Taxihub Transport, owned by Paige Pauline Bersamina, is provisional authority is void and operating illegally.
“You can be sued because you allowed the taxi to ply even though it no longer has a franchise,” said Dizon in a press briefing.
The taxi in the video is not the only one without a franchise—Taxihub Transport's entire fleet does not have valid documents, according to Dizon. Because of this, the LTFRB will issue a show cause order to Bersamina and may revoke the company's right to operate.
Dizon also ordered a widespread crackdown on taxi drivers at NAIA. The LTFRB and LTO have reportedly coordinated with MIAA and New NAIA Infra Corp to catch the unruly drivers.
