The DSWD has provided assistance to Rose, the woman seen in the video emerging from a canal in Makati City. According to DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, Rose will receive P80,000 to start her own store, which she said was a long-held dream.
The agency's plan also includes helping his partner, Jerome, who has knowledge in welding. It is possible to provide him with training and help in purchasing a welding machine so that they can have a better income as partners.
While distributing aid to other homeless in Makati, the DSWD also said that Rose is willing to help encourage others like her to go to the Pag-Abot shelter — a program to help people living on the streets.
Rose's video on Tuesday, in which she was seen in a canal, garnered a lot of reactions online. She clarified that she did not live there, and that she only went in to retrieve a fallen cutter blade. According to the DSWD, she used to rent in Pasong Tamo, Makati, with Jerome.
