The incident of three men allegedly living under a canal in Makati is currently being investigated by authorities. A video has gone viral on social media showing a man emerging from the drainage canal at the corner of V.A. Rufino and Adelantado Streets, Barangay San Lorenzo.
Based on CCTV footage, three men were seen entering the canal one after the other at around 4 p.m. on Monday. In a preliminary report by Makati Police, they were identified as homeless people from Barangay Pio Del Pilar.
Inside the canal, tools such as a screwdriver, pliers, and wrench were found. Because of this, police are also looking into the possibility that this is related to criminal activity.
The canal was found to be connected to a creek and possibly has a connection to the Amorsolo Street drainage system.
Meanwhile, personnel from the DSWD's 'Pag-abot Program' also arrived to assess the condition of the homeless and provide assistance to them.
