A 10-year-old boy named Nathan was brought by his mother to a lying-in clinic in Balut, Tondo to undergo circumcision on May 17. According to Marjorie San Agustin, her son was still strong before the surgery.
A man who identified himself as a doctor circumcised Nathan and allegedly injected him with 20cc of anesthesia. After the procedure, the boy told his mother that he no longer felt anything. But after a while, the mother noticed that the boy was shaking and convulsing.
The mother tried to ask the doctor, but he was told that such a reaction was normal because the child was "groggy." Not long after, Nathan was taken to the hospital but was declared dead.
The family could not accept what happened and immediately reported to the police and sought help from the NBI. According to the investigator, the full extent of the incident will only be known when the results of the autopsy are released.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and the doctor in question may be called to determine whether the procedure was performed correctly.
