Miss Grand International 2021 Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien has been arrested by authorities in Vietnam for alleged consumer fraud. According to a report by the Public Security Newspaper, Tien promoted Kera Supergreens Gummies on her social media, claiming it was high in fiber—but it turned out to be almost none, at just 0.935%.
She was promoted by famous influencers Pham Quang Linh and Hang Du Muc. It was learned that they were also the ones behind the company that released the product, along with Tien. They presented it as a healthy candy that was as nutritious as a plate of vegetables per gummy.
The investigation revealed that 35% of the gummies were sorbitol—an artificial sweetener with a laxative effect—and there were undisclosed ingredients. More than 135,000 packs were sold to nearly 30,000 customers.
After winning the international pageant, Tien became an endorser for many brands. Just in March, she became the first Vietnamese to become a Friend of the House of Dior.
Now, he will face legal charges along with his colleagues for allegedly deceiving the public.
