The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended the license of SUV driver involved in a fatal accident at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) this Sunday morning. The temporary suspension is 90 days while the incident is investigated.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has ordered that drivers must submit to drug testing. According to the Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act of 2013, drivers involved in accidents must undergo a chemical test such as drug screening. If they refuse, they may face license revocation and a fine.
In the said accident, two people died—a 28-year-old man and a 5-year-old child after an SUV plowed into the departure area of NAIA Terminal 1. Three other people were injured and immediately taken to the hospital.
The LTO has also issued a show-cause order against the registered owner of the vehicle. The driver was also ordered to immediately surrender his license.
