A residential area in Manuyo Uno, Las Piñas City caught fire early Tuesday, May 6. According to the Bureau of Fire Protection, the fire reached second alarm at around 4:58 a.m. and was brought under control by 5:54 a.m.
According to a resident, Rodolfo Torente, they did not save any belongings because the fire spread quickly. He said the fire started in his cousin's house, which is supposedly an old house. “It came from my cousin's house... it's an old house,” he said.
He even tried to get some things but his son stopped him because there was only one alley out and they might not be able to get out. “My son called me, because we had nowhere to run,” he added.
Another resident, Melodina Bautista, was woken up by her son because of the fire. As she was going downstairs, a hot cloth fell on her and part of her head was burned. “When I went downstairs, something like a cloth fell on me — hot,” she said.
The fire was extinguished at around 7:33 a.m. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
