Rapper Sik-K, or Kwon Min-sik by his real name, was sentenced to 10 months in prison by the Seoul Western District Court for violating South Korea's Narcotics Control Act (marijuana). He also has 2-year probation and must attend 40 hours of drug treatment lectures.
The court said the case was serious because of the number of violations and because Sik-K is a well-known singer with a huge impact on society. But they also considered the rapper's sincere remorse and his voluntary surrender to police in January 2024.
Sik-K faces charges of using ketamine, ecstasy, and marijuana. He voluntarily surrendered to police on January 19, 2024, and admitted to his drug use.
According to his camp, he admitted to simple possession and use of marijuana. No Philopon or methamphetamine was found in his hair test conducted during the investigation.
Sik-K rose to fame on the program Show Me the Money season 4. In 2023, he founded his own music label and is known for the songs Party, RING RING, and DARLING.
