Motorists no longer have to wait in long lines at Land Transportation Offices (LTO) thanks to the new online tracker launched by the LTO. This weekend, the LTO allowed motorists to track the status of their driver's licenses and vehicle plates at ltotracker.com. They can also set up home delivery of their licenses.
According to LTO Chief Vigor Mendoza II, using technology, vehicle owners can avoid the need to go to LTO offices, thus saving time, attention, and resources.
With LTO Tracker, it's easy to use. Just type in your license or plate number, and arrange delivery details online. There are also real-time updates on delivery status. The tracker is currently used by nine accredited courier services.
However, it is not available for foreigners who request driver's license conversion and use courier services. Before it was released publicly, 8,000 licenses and vehicle plates were delivered using the tracker.

The LTO has been experiencing a backlog of motor vehicle plates since 2014, due to several problems in procurement, logistics, and legal issues. According to a Senate hearing, the LTO's backlog reached 12.5 million as of February 2024, with the majority of this being 9.1 million for motorcycle plates. The LTO expects this to be fixed by 2025.
