A man in his 20s was rescued from Mount Fuji in Japan, and was rescued again days after he returned to look for his lost phone, according to media reports.
According to police, the man is a Chinese university student living in Japan. He was found on Saturday by an off-season hiker on a trail more than 3,000 meters (9,800 feet) above sea level. He was suspected of having altitude sickness and was immediately taken to the hospital.
It was also reported by TBS and other media that he was the same man who was rescued on Tuesday by helicopter. After being rescued, he returned on Friday to retrieve his mobile phone that he left behind during the first rescue.
Reports are not yet sure if he found his phone, according to unnamed sources.
Mount Fuji is an active volcano and the highest mountain in Japan. Its hiking trails are only open from July to September because it is too dangerous during the off-season. Starting this summer, all hikers will have to pay 4,000 yen (P1,600) to climb the mountain's main trails.
