
Benjamin “Bong” Duterte, the youngest of the Duterte brothers, has passed away, his family announced on Saturday. The news has caused sadness among his family and political allies.
Vice President Sara Duterte expressed her gratitude to all those who sent condolences and prayers for the loss of her uncle. According to her, “Tiyo Bong” was one of the pillars of their family behind the operations and plans for the 2025 national and local elections.
“His quiet leadership will be sorely missed as we face the 2028 elections. We find comfort in faith, knowing that we now have a campaign manager in heaven watching over the victory of the Filipino people,” VP Sara added in her statement.
The vice president also shared photos with Bong Duterte and family, including one with former President Rodrigo Duterte. The cause of his death was not disclosed, but according to the vice president, Bong wanted his wake and burial to be limited to family and select friends only.
Senator Christopher “Bong” Go also extended his condolences to the Duterte family. According to his Facebook post, “The senator expressed his condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased, and joined in their remembrance and prayers during this time of mourning.”
