Capcom and Nintendo once again ignite excitement for their iconic survival horror franchise with a new trailer for Resident Evil Requiem, featured in Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase. This new entry brings dual-protagonist gameplay, following FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft as she investigates mysterious deaths in America, as well as veteran agent Leon S. Kennedy, who uses his physical abilities to parry and stun enemies.
Resident Evil Requiem's gameplay features the ability to switch perspectives from first-person to third-person at any time, providing a more immersive experience of fear and action. It combines the horror elements of Resident Evil 7 and Village with the more refined action mechanics of previous remakes, bringing a new dimension to the franchise and hardcore fans.
Along with the gameplay reveal, several physical collectibles were also announced to celebrate the game's release on Nintendo Switch 2 on February 27, 2026. A limited-edition Pro Controller featuring original Resident Evil Requiem art will be released with the game. In addition, there will be amiibo figures of Grace and Leon available in Summer 2026, which will grant functional in-game benefits when scanned.
The amiibo and Pro Controller are designed to expand the gaming experience, from exclusive weapon skins to more personalized gameplay. With pre-orders now open on the Nintendo eShop, it's clear that Resident Evil Requiem is a major showcase for the technology brought to you by Nintendo Switch 2.
Overall, Resident Evil Requiem not only brings back the iconic character Leon Kennedy, but also brings new mechanics, collectibles, and an immersive story that fans of the franchise around the world will surely enjoy. This is a clear step towards the evolution of the survival horror genre in the gaming industry in 2026.
