
A man was arrested after being caught stealing a cable from a refrigerated truck in the middle of the afternoon rush hour on EDSA Pasay, past 4 p.m. on Monday, February 2.
According to a report from the Department of Transportation – Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (DOTr-SAICT), the truck was temporarily stopped at the side of the EDSA Busway Pasay Station when the driver, Kimuel Dugos, noticed that several meters of cable and sockets attached to the truck were missing. It is estimated to be worth P15,000.
During the driver's observation, he saw three men fleeing with the stolen cable. The Philippine Coast Guard personnel assigned to the said station immediately responded.
Due to the quick action, one of the suspects was caught and the stolen items were recovered. The arrested man is currently detained at the Coast Guard Investigation and Detection Management Service in Taguig.
A case is being prepared against the suspect who will face a complaint of theft, while the investigation continues to identify the two other suspects involved in the incident. This incident reminds the public to be alert to street crimes, especially in crowded areas during rush hour.
