The NBI operation in Pililia, Rizal led to the arrest of three people after they accepted ₱300,000 as payment for land they were selling. They identified themselves as the owners of a 250-hectare plot of land.
According to the investigation, they allegedly sold the prime lot at a low price even though they did not have a permit to sell. They even used a fake Spanish title to deceive buyers.
An OFW from Taiwan, Rolly, is one of the victims. He had a house built on the land he bought, but the real owner had it demolished. “It’s depressing, I saved for years and then it’s gone,” said Rolly.
NBI Cavido North Chief Cesar Eric Nuqui explained that buyers were enticed because the land, which was supposed to be worth millions, was being sold for just ₱400,000. He said many people have already fallen victim to the group.
Three suspects were charged with estafa and fake land titles of land in Rizal were recovered from them.
