A 2-year-old boy in India was bitten to death by a cobra after it crawled and wrapped itself around his hand.
According to a report by The Times of India, the boy, identified as Govinda, was playing in his house in Bettiah when he noticed the snake. Out of curiosity, he threw a piece of brick at it. The cobra retaliated and wrapped itself around the boy's hand, but instead of crying or running away, it took a surprising step.
"When we saw the snake in the child's hand, we immediately approached, but before we could get close, he had already bitten the snake and it died," said the child's grandmother.
After the incident, the boy lost consciousness and was immediately taken to the health center before being transferred to the Government Medical College Hospital. The snake died after Govinda's bite caused damage to the cobra's head and mouth.
According to doctors, Govinda is now safe after receiving prompt treatment. The family recalled the story in Hindu mythology in which Krishna, also known as Govinda, defeated the serpent Kaliya. India is home to over 300 species of snakes, including deadly species such as the Indian cobra.
