Carlo Biado, 41-year-old Filipino cue artist, made history again after defeating defending champion Fedor Gorst, 15-13, in the final of the World 9-Ball Championship this Sunday morning (Manyilly time).
Biado was a previous champion in 2017, and now he is the first Filipino to win two World 9-Ball titles. He got off to a rough start after Gorst won the first two racks. But “The Black Tiger” attacked and won nine consecutive racks, 9-2. Gorst came back to tie the score, 9-9.
In the final part of the match, Biado led 13-9 but Gorst chased back and made it 13-all. In the 27th rack, Gorst made a mistake and the ball went to Biado to get 14-13. The Filipino ended the match in the 28th rack and shouted victory after shooting the 9-ball. According to Biado, “I still can’t believe it. I am a two-time World Champion and I am proud to bring this home for the Philippines.”
