According to barangay guards, the victim was still alive when found and immediately taken to the hospital, but he died early the next morning. A resident, Russel Mahusay, heard three to four gunshots near a computer shop.
In the initial investigation, four men were the first suspects. However, in the follow-up operation, the 16-year-old suspect was identified and voluntarily surrendered the next day with the help of his father. He admitted that he was the one who shot, allegedly out of curiosity while holding the gun.
According to the suspect's account, he was playing with a gun while on the roof of the mausoleum. When the trigger was accidentally pulled, the victim was hit. Due to fear, he threw the gun away and immediately ran home to Bagong Silang.
