Kawasaki released a short video on January 25 announcing the return of two-stroke motorcycles. In the 20-second video, only the sound of the engine can be heard—no details were given as to whether it was for road, off-road, or something else. Because of this, many people were excited and asked if this was a new engine with fuel injection, forced induction, or some other unique technology.
So far, there is still no clear answer. The possibility is that it could be a new KX250 two-stroke motocross bike. This model was last seen in 2008 and is now a four-stroke version. When MCN asked Kawasaki UK, they refused to comment and said that no model has been released yet.
In addition, many are also waiting for the Kawasaki KLE500, an adventure bike that was first shown at Eicma 2024 in Milan and again at Motorcycle Live in Birmingham. But like the two-stroke, they also don't have a release date.
The KLE concept prototype shows some signs that it can be used on city roads, deserts, and mountains. The text “Life’s a rally. Ride it. KLE, est 1991” confirms the return of the KLE series. According to many speculations, it is possible that it will use the 451cc parallel twin engine of the Ninja 500, Z500, and Eliminator 500.
Up until now, both the Kawasaki two-stroke and KLE500 have only been teasers. They could be released during the autumn show season, but as of now, there is still no official date.
