The five suspected members of the Salisi Gang were arrested at NAIA Terminal 3 after weeks of surveillance by the Pasay City Police, MIAA, and Airport Police Department. The group was allegedly involved in a series of robberies from April 28 to May 5.
The group usually attacks between 10:00 PM to 11:00 PM, coinciding with security personnel changes. They use a distraction tactic—while one accomplice distracts the passenger, the others secretly move in to take the victim's bag, cellphone, or gadget.
Two cellphones and a laptop were recovered from the suspects. They will be charged with theft, resistance and disobedience to a person in authority, and attempted escape. Authorities continue to remind passengers to be alert in their surroundings.
