The arraignment of the suspects in the murder of Diane Marie Mollenido and her son John Mollenido began on Wednesday, February 25, at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 83. Ysmael. One of the accused filed a “not guilty” plea, while the other two filed a motion to dismiss the case.
Gil Dy entered a not guilty plea, but his lawyers insisted that there was a due process violation in his arrest. Meanwhile, the accused Pia Panganiban and Christian Panganiban filed a motion to dismiss the case due to the alleged illegal arrest of them.
The court gave the prosecutors five days to respond to the Panganibans' motion. Their arraignment, including that of Dy, was also postponed pending the resolution of the submitted motion. The court has not yet set a new hearing date for the two accused.
The case stemmed from complaints and investigations related to the disappearance and death of the Mollenido mother and son. The justice process continues as the court examines the suspects' allegations regarding the legality of their arrest and other procedural matters.
