Audi Sport has officially launched the new RS 5, the brand's first high-performance plug-in hybrid. This model features a powerful combination of a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 and a 130 kW electric motor, resulting in a total of 639 PS of power. The RS 5 will be available in both Sedan and Avant body styles, bringing unique performance and style.
The technology of the new RS 5 is at the forefront of the world of high-performance cars. It features Dynamic Torque Control, a world-first electromechanical torque vectoring system in the rear transaxle that adjusts optimal torque distribution every five milliseconds. It combines the advanced V6 engine and electric motor with the eight-speed tiptronic transmission, for agility and precision on every road.
Design-wise, the RS 5 is more aggressive, 9 cm wider than the standard A5, with flared fenders and 20-inch or optional 21-inch forged wheels. Also featured is a three-dimensional honeycomb grille, Matrix LED headlights with a checkered-flag DRL pattern, and matte oval tailpipes. Inside, the driver is at the center of the Audi MMI Panorama cockpit with 11.9-inch virtual display and 14.5-inch touch interface for ultimate control.
To maintain performance, the 25.9 kWh battery is actively cooled to 20°C in “RS sport” and “RS torque rear” modes, ensuring that maximum boost is always available. This provides a combination of efficiency and raw power that is rare in other plug-in hybrids on the market.
Orders for Europe will open in the first quarter of 2026, and deliveries are expected to begin in Summer 2026. The new Audi RS 5 is not only a symbol of performance and innovation, but also a sign of the future of high-performance hybrid vehicles in the luxury automotive segment.
